Enterprise Search is a solution for finding data, which is stored within an organization. In almost all cases this is performed behind firewalls. Content can be analyzed by indexing or on-the-fly. Enterprise Search however is not only based in retrieving content by means of an entered search query, it goes way much further than that. Often a whole process is being performed in advance, but in most cases it is a continuous process that makes sure the information’s quality and communication flow is getting better and better.

The search process

The databases with content has to be connected (mounted) first  before information is being laid out throughout the entire organization. Next step is cleaning up duplicate content. Adding linguistics and other language functionalities is never a bad thing to do. For example the search query “infromation” will probably return some results but as you can see it is wrongfully spelled. So linguistics will make sure you will get noticed of the misspelling and also offers you an alternative (or multiple ones if available).

Enterprise Search Functionalities

By adding some social functionalities will result in a whole new dimension in information retrieval. But also recommendation and of course authorization functionalities are powerful an neat tools to add value to Enterprise Search.
